On November 21st, 2019 I was offered - and accepted - a position as Information Technology Project Manager for a beautiful coastal city in California. In this role, I will be responsible to assume control of current project deliverables, as well as to develop a project catalog and roadmap. As a Quadrant Two (Q2) Project Manager I will also install the Q2PM SharePoint software infrastructure and tools necessary to begin running projects per the Q2PM methodology; including a dashboard where project status can be reviewed by city executives and sponsors. As a bonus, I have decided to include a "product" piece by which long-service applications will be managed by dedicated teams rather than ad-hoc assemblages of Subject Matter Experts (SME) whenever the need for modifications and enhancements occurs. To communicate this plan, I have prepared a first-year Charter breaking down my Project Management Office (PMO) goals into thirty-day, one-hundred-day, and first year objectives. I will share this Charter plan with the Information Technology Manager to gain consensus regarding our objectives in creating for this city, a first-rate Project Management Office. This is my first action as the city's newly-hired project manager.
